Filled my first custom order of the year!!! Custom handmade sewing machine cover. I am especially proud of this one. Didn’t really have a pattern or plan in mind. All I had (& needed) were the dimensions of the specific sewing machine, & off I went!! I let my creative juices flow at its own pace, started cutting pretty fabric, & this is what I ended up with.
Even the side pockets were a last minute add! The patchwork front detail is my signature feature. I’ve made several covers using patchwork…it’s universal! If you are young and trendy, or experienced and conservative, patchwork goes with every age & personality!! It is the “little black dress” every gal possesses!
Anyway, I’m rambling. I hope my customer likes it!
The cold weather has inspired me to create a load of infinity scarves! They are also in high demand amongst my customers. They were a hit as Christmas gifts, so now I have orders to fill.
Thick or skinny, these scarves are awesome! Of course I had to make myself a few too. I LOVE IT!!! The skinny ones I wear to accessorize my outfit…the thick one keeps me warm and looks great!!!
And I only use the best yarn. Soft acrylic, thick & bulky. Or wool!! Can’t go wrong with wool in the winter!!
So I have been pondering over baking some milk bones for my four legged barking friends this holiday season. It’s a super simple recipe.
1 cup Broth (I chose beef broth)
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup dry milk
1 beaten egg
3 cups whole wheat flour
All you do is add melted butter to the broth. Mix in dry milk & beaten egg. Slowly add the wheat flour. As it gets thick, start kneading into dough form.
Flour parchment paper and roll your dough out, 1/2″ thick at least. Use a cookie cutter of your choice. I used a doggie bone, paw print & dog shape.
Grease cookie sheet. Bake for 50 min at 325 degrees.
Cool for at least 30 minutes.
Such a unique date. My nineteenth birthday was on 09-09-09…so I love same digit dates!!
Other than the date…my morning was spent running behind on time. It was so chilly this morning I had a hard time getting out of bed! So naturally, I kept pressing the snooze button…until I realized it was 25 minutes PAST my original alarm. I am usually quick to get ready, but today I decided on curls. Which added to minutes to by tardiness. But I can’t resist the urge for curls today:
Although I keep my true identity a mystery, a photo like this is always fun to keep you guessing who I really am.
Piece of my excitement: 9 days until my Mom arrives to spend the holidays with my family & I…woo hoo!
This was a RARE occassion! I practically NEVER get an entire weekend without my kids. I took full advantage! This is what happened in a nut shell.
All the places I’ve been and things I’ve done…kid-free!
I am so thankful that my mother-in-law took the kids for the weekend. I was actually able to go to a movie theater and watch the last part of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2!! I know I was 23 days late since the release…but it was wonderful!
I got to shop without the whining and complaining and the constant interruptions (i.e. I’m hungry, I’m tired, I have to go potty for the 4th time in one hour…). Not to mention start my Christmas shopping!
I set up all the holiday decorations in the house! Started the pine scented warmer as well. Now I really feel like Christmas has arrived!
In regards to a previous post about ‘Debating New Orleans’, I obviously did not go. 😦 I was so bummed! And my husband was very sad. We at least talked and texted each other the whole weekend, but wished we were together. I admire that he is dedicated to his job and furthering his education by taking these extra courses that was offered to him (which I found out, is not offered often, especially to a non-supervisor), hoping all this time away and extras he’s been doing WILL in fact earn him that title!
Overall, it was a great weekend. I got a lot done. I was so happy to see the kids Sunday afternoon. I missed them so much! Honestly, I felt pretty darn useless when they weren’t around. I didn’t quite know what to do with myself! I am a mother forever and always…can you imagine when they grow up and move out??? Yikes! I’ll have nobody to bug except my husband…oh what a lucky man! Can’t WAIT to grow old together!
Normal day, driving down the street, & this is what I see…
My husband invited me to join him in New Orleans this weekend. He just got off the rig yesterday & will be staying through the week for certification courses. Anyway, I already have the kids staying with my MIL (Mother-in-Law) for the weekend, so this would be PERFECT!
Down side…it’s a six hour drive. Or a $410 round trip flight. Being that it is the holidays, I feel extremely guilty spending that kind of money on myself, just to spend 32 hours with my husband out of town. Granted, because my husband works on an offshore oil rig, his schedule keeps us from seeing each other. Normally it’s 3 weeks on 3 weeks off…but it will be 4 weeks of not seeing him if I do NOT go to New Orleans this weekend.
I’ll decide by this afternoon…in the meantime, I’ll be gazing at this website: http://www.neworleansonline.com/
